The short version
We collect what the app needs to work. We do not sell your information or use it for cross-app advertising. You can delete your account in the app, or ask us for a copy or deletion of your data at any time. The sections below are the detail.
01
Who we are
Lambda (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates lambda-training.com and the Lambda app. We are responsible for the information described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@lambda-training.com.
02
Data we collect
This table reflects the App Privacy categories we declare for Lambda on the App Store. The sections below explain each category in more detail.
| Category | What we collect | Used for | Linked to you | Tracking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Contact Info | Name (in your app profile) and email address (for your account or the waitlist). | App functionality; Lambda product updates and marketing. | Yes | No |
| Health & Fitness | Health: date of birth, height, bodyweight and body measurements you enter. Fitness: programs, sessions, exercises, sets, reps, weights, goals and PR history. | App functionality and training analysis. | Yes | No |
| Sensitive Info | Optional gender in your profile. | App functionality (profile display). | Yes | No |
| User Content | Photos or videos you choose to upload, plus session notes and other free text you record. | App functionality. | Yes | No |
| Identifiers | Your Lambda user ID, and your friend code if you use friends. | App functionality, account sync and friends. | Yes | No |
| Diagnostics | Crash and performance data relating to the app. | App functionality and analytics. | No | No |
Linked to you means the data is associated with your Lambda account or user ID. Tracking follows Apple’s definition: linking data with third-party data for targeted advertising, or sharing it with a data broker. Lambda does not do this. Platform diagnostics are supplied by Apple or Google only if you choose to share them with developers.
03
Information you provide
We collect information you give us directly. What you provide depends on how you use Lambda.
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you submit. We use it to send beta invitations, product updates and occasional Lambda marketing. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Account and profile. When you create an account, we collect your email address and your first and last name. You can also choose to provide your date of birth, gender, height and current bodyweight. We use an internal user ID to keep your data together. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an identifier and the email address those services choose to share with us. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
- Health and fitness data. We collect the training information you record: programs, workout templates, sessions, exercises, sets, reps, weights, variations, goals, PRs, pre- and post-session ratings and notes, and bodyweight entries. Some profile fields are optional and you can leave them blank.
- Photos and videos. If you choose to upload photos or videos, we collect the media you select. We only access the photos or videos you choose to provide.
- Social features. If you use friends, we collect your friend code, your friendships and any nickname you give a friend. Your first and last name, friend code and completed training history — including sessions, exercises, sets, notes and goals — are visible to people you add as friends. Friendships are mutual. If you use a coaching feature, the coach you connect with may see the data you have chosen to share with them. If you join our Discord, messages you post there are also processed by Discord under its own policy.
- Communications. Messages you send us for support or feedback, and messages you post in beta community spaces such as Discord.
04
Information collected automatically
When you use the app or this website, our service providers may process technical information needed to operate and secure the service. This can include your IP address, device type, operating system, app version, timestamps and diagnostic logs. Some of this information may be linked to your account when you are signed in.
- Diagnostics. If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with Apple or Google, they may provide us with crash reports and performance data for the app. We use this only to diagnose crashes, understand reliability and performance, and improve Lambda. We do not link these reports to your Lambda account, and the app does not embed third-party advertising SDKs.
- On your device. The app keeps training data in a local database on your device so it remains available offline, and syncs it with your account through our backend. Authentication tokens are stored in the device’s secure storage.
- Syncing. When you are signed in, changes sync between your devices and our backend. A session logged on one device can appear on another.
- This website. The site does not run advertising or analytics scripts. We use Google Fonts to serve typefaces, and Google may receive your IP address when your browser requests them. The waitlist form is processed by Formspree.
- No cross-app tracking. We do not use this technical information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
05
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate and maintain the Lambda app and website.
- Create and secure your account, authenticate you, and sync your data across your devices.
- Power your training history, PR analysis and progress views across your own sessions.
- Provide friends and coaching features when you choose to use them.
- Send waitlist, beta, product and occasional marketing communications. See section 6.
- Respond to support requests, feedback and questions.
- Understand how the service is used in aggregate and diagnose crashes or performance problems so we can improve it.
- Detect, prevent and address technical problems, abuse, fraud and security incidents.
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your training data for advertising, and we do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers.
06
Marketing, advertising and tracking
We may use your name and email address to send you news about Lambda, beta invitations, product updates and occasional marketing. We only do this where we have your consent or another lawful basis, and every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also email contact@lambda-training.com to opt out. Opting out does not stop essential account, security or service messages.
No third-party advertising or tracking. We do not sell or rent your information, share it with data brokers or advertising networks, or use it to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not use health, fitness or sensitive information for advertising. The app does not contain third-party advertising SDKs. The “Advertising or Marketing” purpose in our App Store privacy disclosure refers to Lambda’s own product communications, not third-party advertising.
If we ever introduce cross-app tracking, we will update this policy before doing so and request permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework where required.
07
Legal bases
Where the UK or EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on the following legal bases to process your information:
- Contract. Processing needed to provide the app, create your account, sync your data and deliver the service you asked for.
- Consent. Waitlist and marketing emails, optional profile fields, and optional communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests. Keeping the service secure and reliable, diagnosing problems, understanding aggregate use, and improving the app, provided your rights and interests do not override those interests.
- Legal obligation. Processing required by applicable law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
08
How we share information
We share information only as needed to run Lambda, with providers that process it on our behalf or as independent controllers for their own services:
- Supabase — authentication, database and storage infrastructure.
- PowerSync — syncing data between your device and our backend.
- Formspree — processing waitlist submissions from this website.
- Google and Apple — if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, and for platform diagnostics if you opt in to sharing them with developers.
- Discord — if you choose to join the beta community.
- Friends and coaches — when you choose to use those features. Your name, friend code and completed training history are visible to people you add as friends, and a coach may see the data you share with them. You can remove a friend at any time.
- Infrastructure and security providers — hosting, logging and abuse-prevention services needed to keep the app available.
We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertising networks or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect the safety and rights of Lambda or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. If a transfer of that kind happens, we will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
09
Cookies and local storage
This website does not set its own cookies and does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Google Fonts and Formspree process requests as described in section 4.
The app stores data locally on your device, including a local database for offline use and secure storage for your authentication tokens. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app removes the local copy from that device, but it does not delete the copy associated with your account. To delete your account data, see section 12.
10
Retention
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:
- Account, profile, health and fitness data are retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it longer.
- Photos and videos are retained until you delete them or your account. If you delete your account, they are included in the deletion described above.
- Waitlist and marketing email is retained until you unsubscribe or until 12 months after the beta program closes, whichever comes first. After you unsubscribe, we may keep a minimal suppression record so we do not contact you again.
- Diagnostics are retained by Apple or Google under their own policies. We do not keep a separate copy linked to your account.
- Backups may retain copies for a limited period, typically no more than 90 days, before they are overwritten.
- Security and legal records may be retained longer where necessary to comply with law or resolve a dispute.
11
Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security in our database, and secure storage for authentication tokens on your device. We treat health, fitness and optional sensitive profile information as confidential, and we restrict access to it. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account or information has been compromised, contact us immediately at contact@lambda-training.com.
12
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your account and the personal information associated with it.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting processing that already happened.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
- Object to or opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
You can delete your account yourself from the app: open your profile and choose Delete Account. This removes your profile, training data, uploaded media and friend connections, subject to the retention periods above. You can also email contact@lambda-training.com to request access, correction or deletion.
If you are a California resident, you also have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To make a request, email contact@lambda-training.com. We may need to verify your identity before we can act on it.
13
Children
Lambda is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14
International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.
15
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app and our practices change. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. If a change is material, we will communicate it in the app or by email where appropriate, and where required we will ask for your consent or give you a chance to object before the change takes effect.
16
